He's a stray 10 day old kitten we picked up with signs of ring work on his neck. i dont kno wif that's actually what it is, but I want to take precautionsCan i put cortisone cream on a newborn kitten to heal ringworm?
Some things that are OK for humans are deadly for pets.

It's best to take the kitten to the vet.Can i put cortisone cream on a newborn kitten to heal ringworm?
no take him to the vet
best bet at 10days old to take him to the vet, cats can be very sensitive to meds and products, they metabolize differently than dogs. also even though it sounds like a worm, cause its called ringworm, it is NOT a worm, its a fungus and generally they will hold a blacklight to his skin . sometimes it will glow, theres a couple different strains, it is contagious to people. don't panic, just take him to vet, give him a good check over, have him wormed , have a fecal done to check for rounds, hooks , coccidia, and so forth, get him some topical flea control. and if he's healthy enough they'll give him him first set of shots.
Ring worm are found inside the cat, you need tablets to cure ringworm, try that and if it does not work then a vet would be able to tell you what is wrong.
No. To the vet he must go. Cortisone won't get rid of ringworm, and there's not an OTC that will work well on it. Besides, your new little stray should see the vet for shots, worming, and general care. Personally, I wouldn't even want to bring a stray in the house before they've been de-bugged.
I would try over the weekend, but, don't put too much on in case of a reaction, call around on Monday to different Vets offices and tell them you found a stray cat and see if they will treat the kitten for free!!!maybe an animal shelter would give you free service, too!Don't touch it,put some plastic gloves on your hands!
Ringworm is a fungal infection of the hair. Using a steroid might actually make it worse by suppressing his natural immune defense. Ringworm runs its course in roughly 12 weeks and treating it only shortens the course by 2 weeks or so. It won't hurt him if it's just ringworm, but people can catch it especially from cats. Not generally dangerous in humans either. Watch for red circles, usually on your inner forearms. Best precaution is to find out what it really is. Ringworm can be diagnosed by a fungal culture. Take him to the vet; he's old enough to start vaccines and needs to be dewormed too.
NO! Take your kitten to the vet. It can have reactions to medications. There is treatment if it is ringworm. Do not use any over the counter meds on that kitten without cnsulting a vet first. It is just like a human baby...would you put medicines on your baby without talking to your pediatrician. Some people mediciations are lethal to animals.
Can you say poison. Never treat an animal with human meds it is deadly. Go to the vet and get some cream
he has to be at least 3 weeks old before any kind of medication can be administered. I would call you local vet clinic and ask them what you could use. It might not be ring work it could be sarcoptic mange. I suggest you make him an appointment to make sure it is no big deal since mange is contagious to other animals.
